 In the last seven days, the decline in infections has slowed down (-14.8% against the figure of -27.5% of the previous week);

intensive care (-5.9%), ordinary hospitalizations (-13%) and deaths (-9.4%) are down.

    This is what emerges from the new monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation for the period 11-17 May on the basis of which the new weekly cases amounted to 244 thousand with a 7-day moving average of almost 35 thousand cases per day.

In all regions there is also a percentage reduction in new cases: from -0.1% in Sardinia to -22.7% in Calabria.

Compared to the previous week, Gimbe points out that in the last seven days the new cases are 243,932 compared to 286,350;

763 versus 842 deaths. Currently positive cases are also decreasing (967,401 versus 1,082,972 of the previous week), people in home isolation (959,599 versus 1,074,035), hospitalizations with symptoms (7,465 versus 8,579) and intensive care (337 versus 358 the previous week).

In 4 Provinces there is a percentage increase in new cases (Rimini + 0.4%; Biella + 1.7%; Bologna + 3.2%; Nuoro + 32.7%), in 103 a reduction (from -1, 6% of Cuneo to -39.1% of Vibo Valentia).

As regards hospital indicators, Marco Mosti, the operational director of the Gimbe Foundation, explains "the number of beds occupied by Covid patients records a further decline both in intensive care (-5.9%) and in the medical area (- 13%) ".

In detail, in the critical area as of May 17 there were 337 occupied beds;

in the medical area, on the other hand, after the peak of 10,328 recorded on April 26, Covid beds fell to 7,465 on May 17.

As of May 17, the national employment rate was 11.6% in the medical area and 3.6% in the critical area.

Five Regions exceed the 15% threshold in the medical area, with Umbria reaching 27.5%, while all the Regions are below the 10% threshold for the critical area.

"

Deaths are still decreasing: 763 in the last 7 days (of which 38 referring to previous periods), with an average of 109 per day compared to 120 in the previous week.

Finally, the number of total tampons decreased (-12.4%): from 1,971,656 in the week of 4-10 May to 1,727,246 in the week of 11-17 May.

The 7-day moving average of the positivity rate is essentially stable for both molecular buffers (8.2% to 8%) and rapid antigenic agents (16% to 16.1%).
