The famous Greek musician Vangelis, known for his new age and electro compositions as well as his film scores, has died at the age of 79, the Greek Prime Minister announced on Thursday.
“Vangelis Papathanassiou is no longer with us,” tweeted Kyriákos Mitsotákis, who salutes a very successful “electronic sound” figure.

Vangelis had notably distinguished himself by composing the soundtracks of "Chariots of Fire", for which he received the Oscar for best music in 1981, as well as "Blade Runner", and "1492: Christopher Columbus".
