Monkey pox: Spain, Portugal... should we fear an epidemic in Europe?

Several dozen suspected or confirmed cases of monkeypox, which usually circulates in Africa, have been detected in Europe and


England was the first to sound the alarm.

A first monkeypox patient was identified there on May 7 and their number rose to 9 on Wednesday, while confirmed or suspected cases were also identified in Spain, Portugal, as well as in the United States and in Canada.

None has yet been announced in France.
