(ANSA) - MILAN, MAY 18 - An innovative finance for the sustainable development of Italian small and medium-sized enterprises.
This is one of the main challenges of the near future, highlighted during a meeting in Milan, organized by CreaRes, the research center in Business Ethics and Social Responsibility of the University of Insubria, in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo, in the Conference room of the bank in piazza Belgioioso. Opening the debate, the president of Intesa Sanpaolo, Gian Maria, Gros-Pietro, underlined the importance of new technologies, which will also help “to contain the cost of credit.
New technologies make it possible to better package products, reduce brokerage costs and get funding to arrive faster.
But stability must also be taken into account ”.
Furthermore, for the president of Intesa Sanpaolo, “fintech is a very useful tool for sustainability because it can be an accelerator”.
Before us "there are enormous opportunities", but "we cannot think of goals without having a road map", adds Gros-Pietro, underlining that "sustainability is not only environmental but also social.
If you imagine a socially unsustainable path, you will not reach the goal.

The debate was also fueled by the Consob commissioner, Paolo Ciocca, the vice president of Confindustria for Credit, Finance and Taxation, Emanuele Orsini, and the director of the Milan branch of the Bank of Italy, Giorgio Gobbi.
The meeting was also the
occasion for the presentation of the volume edited by Rossella Locatelli and Cristiana Schena of the University of Insubria, entitled "The new financial ecosystem for SMEs. The opportunities of digitization and sustainable development", out in May 2022 (Franco Angeli Editore ).
The volume highlights how the challenge for the relaunch of the Italian economy depends on the ability to develop and exploit the potential connected to a financial ecosystem, based on effective collaborations and on a public-private partnership, which is a hotbed of innovative solutions to support of an increasing number of SMEs.
