PS Plus gets a facelift in June and an offer of over 400 free games.

Does the change mean the end of the PS Plus Collection?

Hamburg – Time is in a hurry again.

In just a few weeks, Sony will fundamentally change its PS Plus subscription service in June.

All existing memberships will then be converted to a PS Plus Essential subscription, which will not differ from the usual service.

For a surcharge, an upgrade to PS Plus Extra or Premium is also possible on PS5 and PS4, which then offers access to a games catalog for the PlayStation with over 400 titles.

As reported by IPPEN.MEDIA ingame.de, gamers are now worried about the PS Plus Collection for normal subscribers.

PS Plus Collection not at risk due to subscription change

Will PS Plus Extra and Premium replace PS Plus Collection on PS5?

With the release of the PS5, Sony introduced the PS Plus Collection for all PS Plus subscribers.

All those who pay for the premium service on the new console get access to 20 of the best games, the PlayStation 4, through the PS Plus Collection.

The titles include blockbusters like God Of War, Fallout 4 or Final Fantasy 15. Persona 5, a real highlight, recently left the PS Plus Collection.

Do players now have to fear;

also lose all other titles in the PS Plus transition in June if they don't switch to one of the more expensive subscriptions of the new PS Plus?

The simple answer is: no.

In conversation with colleagues from IGN, Sony has already announced in the past that the PS Plus Collection will remain exactly where it has been since the launch of the PS5, even after the changeover.

So regular PS Plus users don't have to panic trying;

check off all the games in the PS Plus Collection from their list by June.

With the departure of Persona 5 in mind, however, it remains interesting to see if the PS Plus Collection will continue to transform over the coming months.

PS Plus: The new memberships can be upgraded at any time

What else is there to know about the new PS Plus?

Another question that keeps coming up with the new PS Plus: what happens to my existing PS Plus Essential subscription if I prefer to upgrade to PS Plus Extra or Premium?

Here, too, Sony gives a simple answer: Upgrades will always be possible in the new PS Plus and no subscription months that have already been paid for will expire.

If you pay the difference to the next higher tiers (levels), PS Plus Extra or Premium, you can top up your subscription on the PS5 at any time.

Sony has not yet confirmed whether this will also be possible with downgrades.

However, the assumption is that it will be difficult to get a lower class of PS Plus before the end of a subscription once you have decided on Extra or Premium.

In addition to these technical questions, the rumor mill is also buzzing about the free PS Plus Extra and Premium games.

Sony has already announced the first free games for the new PS Plus, but the magic mark of 400 titles is far from being reached.

It is currently suspected that the Bloober Team games catalog could find its way into the new PS Plus.

The Polish developer recently published the horror hit The Medium and is said to be currently working on a remake of Silent Hill 2.
