(ANSA) - BEIJING, 20 MAY - The American president, JoeBiden, has just landed with Air Force One at the gates of Seoul, for the first stage of his tour in Asia.
Biden, who will remain in South Korea for three days, will have the summit tomorrow with President Yoon Suk-yeol, who took office just 10 days ago.
Air Force One landed at Osan aPyeongtaek air base, 70 kilometers south of Seoul: after a brief interview with the South Korean delegation that welcomed him and some US military, Biden entered the 'Beast', the presidential super-armored car, heading towards a microchip plant of Samsung Electronics, the global microprocessor giant, present in the same city.
Waiting for him, according to images broadcast by South Korean TV, was South Korean President Yoon, to underline the commitment of the two countries to work together to strengthen the supply chains put to the test by the Covid-19 pandemic, in a strategic collaboration scheme.
Biden's first trip as president to the region, which started from Seoul instead of Tokyo where he will go on Sunday, aims to strengthen cooperation with the closest allies on economy, trade and technological development made insecure by possible external factors, starting with China.
