The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control had warned: with the spread of the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 variants, a resumption of the Covid-19 epidemic is likely.
These two “brothers” within the Omicron family are progressing in Europe and particularly in France.
But it is in Portugal that they are most present, especially BA.5.
This now represents two-thirds of positive cases, according to the National Institute of Health.
It supplanted its "cousin" BA.2 in a few weeks, and this is reflected in the epidemic curves.
