He became a star with clumsy do-it-yourself videos, then dubious mask deals put his career in trouble: some cooperation partners have already separated from Fynn Kliemann.
Now the NDR has also put a television project planned with the entrepreneur and YouTuber on hold, as initially reported by the media service "DWDL".
When asked by SPIEGEL, a spokeswoman for the station said that the show had been suspended.
Last year, the NDR issued a so-called letter of intent for the project.
But a contract with Kliemann's production company was not concluded.
Funding of 483,994 euros
The TV show is a comedy show called »Und Bitte!«.
The north German broadcasting agency nordmedia wanted to subsidize the program with 483,994 euros, according to a document.
The show was supposed to be "on the one hand a game show in the classic sense, on the other hand an improv comedy show" in which five contestants are supposed to overcome challenges.
The audience, presenter, unit manager and the candidates should then examine the solutions to the recorded tasks under the magnifying glass in order to “comment on them, laugh your ass off together and give points.” Nordmedia points out that at the time I knew nothing about the allegations against Kliemann at the allocation meeting for any funding on March 13.
According to research by the "ZDF Magazin Royale" presented by Jan Böhmermann, Kliemann is said to have misled the public about the production location and conditions of masks.
Instead of Portugal and Serbia, millions of masks sold under his name were made in Bangladesh and Vietnam.
In addition, Kliemann may have contributed to the fact that 100,000 defective protective masks were delivered to refugee accommodation.
The sustainability award that Kliemann received for this reason in 2020 was revoked last week.
In the SPIEGEL interview, Kliemann denied fraud, but admitted exaggerated and untenable statements - and put the pre-tax profit with the masks at more than 400,000 euros.
