It's his week: The Cannes Film Festival has already honored Tom Cruise with an air show by the French aerobatic squadron and an unannounced Golden Palm of Honor.
On Thursday, the actor jetted on – to London.
He met Prince William and Kate on the red carpet at the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick.
And was particularly gallant.
When Kate, in a long, tight dress, was confronted with a set of stairs, Cruise immediately offered her his hand, which Kate was only too willing to take.
Photos and short clips of Cruise's gallantry went viral online.
But Cruise also had attention for Prince William.
He has a lot in common with the prince, Cruise said.
"We both love England and we're both aviators, we both love to fly." Trained as a search and rescue pilot, Prince William was known as Flight Lieutenant Wales in the Royal Air Force.
Cruise played the character of US Navy pilot Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in "Top Gun", but not only flies in front of the camera.
For the Cannes premiere of the film, Cruise flew in a helicopter, roughly in keeping with the film's theme.
The audience gave standing applause for several minutes after the screening of the out-of-competition action film.
In London, Cruise presented the model fighter jet from the film to William and Kate, as well as cast members including Jennifer Connelly and Jon Hamm.
The premiere of the film was postponed several times due to the corona pandemic.
Actually, the sequel to the blockbuster should have started years ago.
The fact that the film is finally coming to the cinemas and celebrating several premieres was a great pleasure for Cruise.
'After the last few years it's quite extraordinary to have an event like this,' he said in London.
