(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 21 - The Turkish riot police broke into the Bogazic University of Istanbul during the LGBTQ Pride, arresting dozens of students.
This was announced by the BBC service in Turkish.
According to student lawyer Mahmut Şeren, at least 33 were arrested and some teachers were injured in an attempt to prevent the arrests.
The lawyer also stated that on the parade, now in its ninth edition, there had been no prohibition by the governor's office or by the rector.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has banned LGBTQ pride parades since 2015. (ANSA).
