The circus artist René Casselly won the RTL show "Let's Dance".
The 25-year-old, who together with his dance partner Kathrin Menzinger had combined spectacular acrobatics with soulful dances on the show, secured victory in the 15th season of the competition on Saturday night.
The expert jury had already placed the couple in first place in the final – the audience then confirmed the expert vote.
Casselly jubilantly raised the winner's trophy.
"I still can't believe it, actually," he said.
Actually, he was "never the great dancer".
The judges showered the dance couple with praise in the finale, which lasted several hours.
"A dream.
Just a dream,” said Motsi Mabuse after Casselly had performed a tango with Menzinger.
Even the strict adjudicator Joachim Llambi said he was speechless.
"Today you gave by far - for me - the best performance here," he said.
The presenter Janin Ullmann and the former Paralympic athlete Mathias Mester, who had also danced their way to the final, were left behind.
Casselly was born in Hamburg and is part of a circus family.
He became known before "Let's Dance" with appearances on the RTL show "Ninja Warrior Germany", in which candidates have to master difficult courses.
In 2021 he got the win.
