The DKB and the Comdirect have already made changes to the Girocard.
Now a bank is doing the same for them.
Dortmund – The Girocard, which is still very popular, is being discontinued by more and more banks.
Now customers of another bank have to be prepared for a change, as RUHR24 reports.

Next bank plans to change the Girocard – thousands of customers affected
The bank concerned is Targobank, because it also seems to want to say goodbye to the Girocard.
In the meantime, it is no longer mentioned in the company's list, but there is said to be a successor, as
Chip
reports (more service news at RUHR24).
The Girocard is thus being replaced by the debit card at Targobank.
However, this should not change anything in terms of functionality.
Payments in stationary and online trade as well as withdrawing cash are also possible with the debit card as usual.
Targobank plans innovation: abolition of the Girocard initially partially
However, the company does not want to completely abolish the Girocard for the time being, as a spokesman for Targobank announced to the
financial scene
.
Instead, customers of the bank should soon be able to choose between the Girocard and the debit card.
Debit card - that's behind it
A debit card is a bank card that is used for cashless payments or cash withdrawals at ATMs.
Although debit cards are similar to credit cards, the money spent is debited from the account promptly.
This is an important difference to a credit card, which is debited later.
The rollout of the debit card will soon begin for existing customers, so that more and more customers will gradually switch to this card.

But Sparkasse customers also recently had to adapt to innovations, because the card was given a new function.
However, Targobank customers must “actively agree” to changing cards beforehand, the spokesman explains.
Both cards are free, but customers should be prepared for a disadvantage with the debit card.

The free cash supply cannot be guaranteed with the Visa card at Targobank, as
Chip
reports.
It is therefore only possible to withdraw cash free of charge from the bank's own ATMs.
