(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, MAY 20 - The Biden administration has announced that it will appeal against the sentence of the Louisiana judge who decided that the anti-migrant measure imposed by Donald Trump during the Covid-19 pandemic was irremediable.

The US Department of Justice announces it.

The US administration, according to a note from White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre, "does not agree with the court ruling and the Justice Department has announced that it will appeal against this decision".

The authority to define public health policies at the national level, the White House emphasizes, "must belong to the Centers for Disease Control, not to a single district court".

Pending the appeal, the Biden administration will continue to rely on Article 42, concludes the president's spokesman.
