South Korean and American presidents Yoon Suk-yeol and Joe Biden kicked off their first summit in Seoul, which focused on various issues including North Korea's nuclear programs and supply chain risks.

Biden arrived at the new Presidential Office in the Central District of Yongsan, the South Korean capital, and was greeted by Yoon at the entrance, before entering the building together.

"Thank you for the hospitality and the Alliance," Biden wrote in the guest book, according to what was broadcast on local television.

The summit, consisting of a private meeting then extended to the collaborators, will end with the joint press conference inside the building where the renovation works are still in progress after Yoon has decided to transfer the

Presidential office from Cheong Wa Dae (the Blue House) at what was once the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense.

In the morning, Biden visited the Seoul National Cemetery to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers.

"We have offered vaccines against Covid-19 to North Korea, but we have not received a response," US President Joe Biden said at a joint press conference with his South Korean counterpart Yoon Suk-yeol.

Biden and Yoon Suk-yeol "agreed to initiate discussions" on expanding "the scope of combined military exercises and training across the Korean peninsula," according to the joint statement released at the end of their summit.

The move aims to discourage Pyongyang's nuclear threat at a time when there is little hope of engaging in true diplomacy.

South Korea and the United States "reaffirm the importance of preserving peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait": reads the joint declaration at the end of the Seoul summit between the American and South Korean presidents, Joe Biden and Yoon Suk- yeol.

It is a reference destined to create a harsh reaction from China, which claims sovereignty on the island and which considers the events linked to the island as "internal issues", representing an absolute debut in the joint declarations between the two countries.

The previous administration of Moon Jae-in, in fact, has always opposed strong resistance to avoid Chinese retaliation.
