(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 20 MAY - The Boeing space taxi, Starliner, is docked without problems at the International Space Station (ISS).
The capsule had been stopped for eight months due to technical problems, after a first failed test flight in December 2019 (due to a problem with the main engine that prevented the ISS from docking, requiring an early return to Earth) and the second attempt aborted in August 2021 ( for blocking some valves in the propulsion system).
The Boeing capsule, which aims to compete with Elon Musk's SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, left the Kennedy Space Center in Florida yesterday night with a load of 360 kilos of supplies and materials destined for astronauts in orbit and the dummy 'Rosie the Rocketeer' (name inspired by that of Rosie the Riveter, the icon of American women who worked in factories during the Second World War), who with her sensors collected useful information to improve the experience of future human passengers.
