A woman uses a clever DIY hack to keep her cat from scratching the furniture.

The video of it went viral and was hailed as "awesome" on TikTok.

USA - Cats love to sharpen their claws: on scratching posts, scratching boards or - much to the chagrin of their owners - on furniture.

One woman's ingenious home improvement project designed to discourage her cats from doing just that has garnered widespread online plaudits.

On her TikTok account "permablep" she shares her clever idea, which inspires millions of viewers.

Claw sharpening is a completely normal and instinctive behavior for cats.

On the one hand, they express their feelings such as joy, mark something with their smell or remove dead parts of their claws.

But when the velvet paw has chosen the new sofa for the comforting claw sharpening, it can even bring tears to the eyes of the most understanding cat owner.

The TikTok user "permablep" came up with something ingenious for exactly this.

The 27-second video shows her cat clawing at a 5-foot stretch of wall in a corner that's completely upholstered in brown carpet.

The cat happily scratches the carpet wall with both paws while the TikToker tells more about the hack she invented.

"I'm not going to tell you what to do, but I'll tell you what I'm doing, and I've carpeted one wall.

And do you know why I did that?

It was only a little over five dollars because it was on sale at Lowe's.” And the cat seems to like the idea.

During the clip, the cat happily scratches and bites the carpet wall again and again.

"They stopped scratching all the walls and furniture and I didn't have much space because my room is really small," the woman continues in the video.

“They love this damn thing.

So be crazy

Hang a rug on the wall.

Who's going to stop you?” Just before the film ends, the cat is seen running away.

In a comment, the TikTok user also reveals that she fixed the carpet with small nails that leave only small holes and are easy to fix without the landlord noticing.

Because his landlady forbids the cat to go up the stairwell, a man invents a lift for his cat.
