Fans of the Bundy family can be happy: "A Terribly Nice Family" is getting a reboot including the original cast!
But you should know one important piece of information, otherwise you will be disappointed.
"
A terribly nice family
" (with the original English title "
Married... with Children
") was an American sitcom that was produced from 1987 to 1997 and was also very successful on German television.
Its ten-year run makes it one of
the longest-running live-action sitcoms
any times.
The main characters were the members of the Bundy family of four: father Al Bundy (Ed O'Neil), mother Peggy Bundy (Katey Sagal), and their two children Kelly (Christina Applegate) and Bud (David Faustino).
The sitcom stood out from the mass of series with its often crude humor and stereotypical gender clichés and became a cult in the 90s.
Now, a piece of news will please fans from back then: "A Terribly Nice Family" is set to get a
remake
, even in collaboration with the
original actors
.

Revival of the '90s series Awfully Nice Family - but not in the way fans hope
Anyone who now thinks that the actors are slipping into their (older) roles from back then will be disappointed: The new edition is not supposed to be shot with real actors like the original – but as an
animated series
, according to reports from
Deadline
.
The series is slated to be written by Family Guy executive producer Alex Carter, who also appears to have secured the original Married... with Children stars on the project.
The actors are supposed to speak the voices of their characters.
25 years later: "A Terribly Nice Family" as an animated series
Not a bad move, after all it was
25 years since the end of the series
, so the actors have aged quite a bit accordingly.
The animation allows the characters, the Bundy house, and everything else to look and act the same as they did back then, allowing the story to continue not long after season 11 ends.
Sony Pictures TV
has been working on the plans for
over a year, but there is still no official buyer for the series.
If the series picks up again, it would likely end up on Fox (which also airs The Simpsons and Family Guy) or a streaming service like Hulu or Peacock.
Awful Family fans have pinned their hopes on a
series revival
countless times and will no doubt be crossing their fingers for this offbeat animated series to come to fruition.
