(ANSA) - PAOLA, 23 MAY - The former president of Sampdoria and entrepreneur Massimo Ferrero has been indicted.

This was decided by the judge of the Court of Paola at the end of the preliminary hearing held this morning.

The other eight defendants involved in the investigation into the bankruptcy of some companies of the Ferrero group that were based in Calabria were also sent to trial.

The judge, accepting the request of his lawyers, decided to revoke the house arrest of Ferrero, accused of fraudulent bankruptcy and various corporate crimes to which he must respond in conjunction with the others.

However, the ban on entrepreneurial activity remains active.

The ordinary trial was set for 21 September.

Together with Ferrero, his daughter Vanessa, a nephew, Giorgio, and ex-wife Laura Sini will also have to appear in the courtroom.

The other defendants are Giovanni Fanelli, Aiello Del Gatto and Roberto Coppolone, directors of some of the failed companies, and Cesare Fazioli and Paolo Carini.

At the center of the investigations conducted by the Finance Guard of Cosenza and coordinated by the Procura di Paola, 4 companies in the hotel, tourism and cinema sector, Ellemme spa, Blu Cinematografica srl,

The investigations revealed a reckless management of what is considered a constellation of scatolecinesi, in which, according to the accusation, the only "dominus" was "Viperetta".

Ferrero was arrested on 6 December while he was in Milan and then obtained house arrest on the 23rd of the same month following a decision by the Court of the Catanzaro review.

The entrepreneur was not present in the courtroom and remained in his Roman house.

When he learned of the revocation of his family's homes, the lawyers Nicola Carratelli, of the court of Cosenza, and Francesca Conte of the court of Lecce, Ferrero burst into tears.

The defendants asked for the revocation of the measure as the precautionary needs no longer exist, since the companies of the group are under the control of the

judicial authority and also for the physical and psychological conditions of the entrepreneur, described as "very proven" by experience.
