Gentiloni, discussion on pact rules after the summer break

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MAY 23 - With respect to the rules on the stability pact "on the governance review we have postponed this exercise until after the summer break".

This was stated by EU Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni.

The commissioner also specified that he was talking about the "Italian summer break, which is a little later than that of other countries".

    The extension of the suspension of the safeguard clause on the Pact "will allow fiscal policies to react quickly to the circumstances" also in light of the fact that "we have a difficult predictable situation".

"We do not foresee a kind of free den for everyone," added Gentiloni.
