(ANSA) - STRESA, MAY 23 - "It is a duty to do justice, the city of Stresa strongly demands it and embraces you all".
This was said by the mayor of the town on Lake Maggiore, MarcellaSeverino, addressing the relatives of the fourteen victims on the anniversary of the Mottarone tragedy.
At the inauguration of the memorial stone, the first town, visibly moved, recalled Sunday 23 May a year ago, when cabin 3 of the cable car that climbs from the shores of the lake to the top of the mountain fell.
"I remember the desperate search for a heartbeat, for a breath among all these little ones, symbol of a day that was supposed to be a celebration - he emphasized - Instead there was only silence. Then a few days after the stab wounds, when it was discovered that perhaps it could be avoided ... ".
