Strawberries are the ultimate spring and summer treat.
The small red fruits are juicy, sweet and incredibly delicious.
Unfortunately, they sugar many...
I'm sorry, you're supposed to put salt on strawberries?
What at first sounds like a crazy idea brings you a real taste explosion.
A little salt really brings out the fruity-sweet taste of ripe strawberries.
Just like adding a pinch of salt to cake batter, it works for the red fruits too.
Why does sweet taste even sweeter with salt?
US researchers have discovered that, in
addition to the well-known sweet receptor, there are additional sensors
on our tongue that influence the respective sweet taste.
These cells, which react to sugars such as glucose, fructose and artificial sweeteners, are mainly located on the front edge and on the sides of the tongue.
One of these sensors transports glucose to the taste cells, but only if sodium, i.e. salt, is present.
This explains the feeling that salt makes sweets even sweeter, for example strawberries, and all without sugar.
Of course, the trick
also works with other types of fruit
.

Don't be afraid
to enjoy
savory versions of strawberries .
You will be amazed.
Replace the tomatoes in the tomato mozzarella salad with basil with strawberries, for example.
The sweetness of the fruit goes wonderfully with the acidity of the balsamic vinegar.
A delicious summer treat.
