A mountain full of work: the everyday life of many people.

Quite a few stick their heads in the sand and do nothing at first.

But there is a simple solution.

Too many to-dos at work, family obligations and stress in your free time: modern life is sometimes pure stress for body and psyche.

Rushing from one appointment to the next, driving the children to swimming lessons, doing the housework, buying presents, etc. pp.: Many people no longer find time for hobbies and rest.

Sleep can also suffer if you have too much on your list.

Quite a few "solve" the problem through procrastination: long voice messages are sent in messenger services, the fifth pair of jeans is placed in the online shop shopping cart or other things that are basically not time-critical are done

just to avoid having to start with the important things

.

Procrastination means putting off important things.

This happens to many people when they generally feel overwhelmed or when they have developed an aversion to the tasks ahead.

But the distraction only provides temporary relief.

Because at some point the important tasks will catch up with you and you have to act under time pressure

.

But isn't it good to take a break from everyday life from time to time?

The answer is definitely "yes".

But procrastinating and pausing are not the same

, as company coach Oliver Hueler explains.

You can't get away from your desk during the day because you have too much work to do?

Nevertheless, tear yourself away and take breaks!

Survey on stress in everyday life

Take a proper break and become more productive and happier?

Breaks are important to gather new strength and stay focused and efficient throughout the day.

Relaxation islands in everyday life also have a blood pressure-lowering effect

and relieve stress, which even has a positive effect on the waist circumference.

But not every activity counts as a “good break”.

Coach Oliver Hülser, who has focused on self-management, among other things, writes in a Linkedin post: “Breaks are important.

You have to switch off sometimes.

Definitive.

But you don't do that by procrastination.

Let's talk about the difference between procrastination and pauses.

Procrastination: You don't do anything productive, but it still costs you energy.

Pause: You don't do anything productive, but it gives you energy

”.

Filling the day with blocks of procrastination instead of taking breaks makes you unhappy because the quality of the breaks determine the quality of the things you'll do after work, Huelzer said.

It is therefore important to find out how best to switch off.

Just try it out

: sunbathing on the terrace, taking a walk in nature, talking to your best friend on the phone or going to the canteen with your colleagues.

Relaxation can have many faces.
