At least 14 children and a teacher have been killed in a gun attack at a Texas elementary school.
The attacker was also dead, said Texas governor Greg Abbott at a press conference.
The 18-year-old suspect, who was armed with a handgun and a rifle, was believed to have been shot dead by police officers.
"He shot and killed 14 students and one teacher in a horrific manner," Governor Abbott said.
“The shooter himself died and officers at the scene are believed to have killed him.”
The attack happened at an elementary school in the small town of Uvalde, 135 kilometers west of San Antonio.
Fatal gun attacks are a regular occurrence in the United States.
Schools are also often affected.
