Chocolate is one of the most popular sweet treats in Germany.

However, there have been repeated calls recently.

Now another follows.

Munich - The food recalls for chocolate have accumulated in recent months, which is not good advertising for the sweets.

The Ferrero group started a large-scale recall of many children's products in Europe - because of salmonella - before the Easter business.

The bacterium has spread to the Ferrero chocolate factory in Arlon, Belgium.

During inspections, it was discovered in a buttermilk tank at the plant.

More than 260 people across Europe have contracted salmonella, some of them severely.

Chocolate food recall due to mold toxin

Recently there was a recall for a chocolate that was sold in Edeka, Rewe and Globus stores.

The recall said that the milk chocolate from myChoco GmbH could have a high aflatoxin content.

Aflatoxins are mold toxins that can form in seeds and nuts.

The poison can cause liver and kidney damage.

Recall of vegan chocolate due to incorrect information on ingredients

And now another recall: This time it's a vegan chocolate.

According to the press release, the label on the H!P Oat M!lk Chocolate variety Cookies No Cream says the sugar content is too low.

Certain batches are labeled with 3.8 grams of sugar per 100 grams of chocolate.

However, the actual sugar content is 39.8 grams per 100 grams of chocolate.

The batches affected are:

  • L122084 (best before 08/31/2023),

  • L122043 (best before 07/31/2023) and

  • L121311 (best before 01/31/2023).

The company asks people who have to pay attention to a low sugar content for health reasons to refrain from eating the chocolate.

If so, they could return the product to their retailer.

The following federal states are affected by the recall: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein.

Chocolates in the test - only two scored "good".

Chocolate is not just chocolate.

This was also found by Öko-Test.

The testers examined 25 different types of chocolate from brands and discounters' own brands.

The result: with many varieties you lose your appetite.

The chocolate products tested included, for example, Alnatura, dm organic chocolate, products from the company's own brand Ja, Tip, Gut and Billig - but also classics such as Ritter Sport, Sarotti, Lindt and Milka.

The result of the testers: Only two products received the rating "good".
