The 75th anniversary of the festival is celebrated, conceived not so much as a celebration of the past but as a sign of the vitality of cinema for the future.
Lots of guests from all over the world, French cinema in the lead, full juries.
"We don't want to look to the past with this celebration but to the future. Here we are warriors fighting for cinema. We need cinema, which is alive and it is here, cinema will never die", said General Delegate
Thierry Fremaux opening the party of the 75th Cannes.
Fremaux listed the names of the filmmakers present one by one, who gradually got up for a spectacular glimpse of
cinema applauding themselves and took to the stage for an exciting and historic image
.
A standing ovation was given to the outgoing president Pierre Lescure,
in the presence of the French minister of culture.
