The actor Horst Sachtleben, known from a large number of film and television productions such as the ARD series "Um Himmels Willen", is dead. Sachtleben died over the weekend at the age of 91, his artist agency in Munich announced.

In addition to his work as an actor, Sachtleben worked as a voice actor in hundreds of film and television productions - including "Home Alone" and the "Harry Potter" movies.

Sachtleben was born in Berlin on September 24, 1930 and became a theater actor.

He had roles at the Hebbel Theater in Berlin, at the Schauspielhaus in Zurich and at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich.

He was on the stage there for more than 30 years and was appointed Bavarian state actor in 1977.

However, Sachtleben is known to a wide audience above all from film and television.

His most famous recent role was that of Bishop Rossbauer in the ARD series "Um Himmels Willen", in which Fritz Wepper played the leading role.

In recent years, Sachtleben has also appeared in other well-known series such as "Hubert and Staller" or "Dahoam is dahoam", as well as in crime series such as "Tatort", "Der Alte" or "Soko 5113".

As a voice actor, he was used for around 800 different speaking roles.

He dubbed leading actor Peter Falk in the late episodes of the US crime series »Columbo«.

He voiced Professor Horace Slughorn in the Harry Potter films and Uncle Frank McCallister in Home Alone.

Sachtleben was also heard as a speaker in other films such as »The Fabulous World of Amelie«.

Because of the corona pandemic, Sachtleben retired from the profession.

"All the regulations and the fear of infection made my decision easier," he told the dpa news agency on the occasion of his 90th birthday in September 2020.
