Lega Serie A launches a new historical phase for Italian football and aims to conquer the American market.
Ceo Luigi De Siervo, who presented the 'Calcio is back' initiative in New York, describes the strategic guidelines for the presence of Serie A in the US.
"It is a project that started two years ago and in which we strongly believe, but it arrives 20 years late, because those who preceded us focused only on Italy, and now we have to make up for this time".
After the meeting with journalists at the Hotel Plaza in New York, the Serie A brand will be launched in the afternoon on Wall Street with two of the Lega's ambassadors, Christian Vieri and Alessandro Del Piero.
Then in the evening there will be a gala dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
"Success in the US is measured when the rights are sold. We were at a value four years ago, we grew up with CBS, we will grow in the next contract and when we manage to close it we will see how much we have grown. We must aim to reach a turnover of at least 100 millions a year in America, "De Siervo said.
From the 2021-22 season, CBS is the League's main broadcaster in the United States, for an agreement worth 75 million a year.
As for the audience, the goal is to "double it", while on the 'Calcio is back' investment front, the CEO explained that "it starts at one million euros and will reach three million, then it can be strengthened if there are regional partners ".
