Investigators look for documents and testimonies also on mobile phones and PCs ".

The investigation into the content of yesterday's Report transmission, with the search carried out by Dia against "a journalist who is not under investigation", aims to "verify the authenticity of the sources".

This was stated by the prosecutor of Caltanissetta, Salvatore De Luca, underlining that the "search does not in any way concern the information activity carried out by the journalist, although it is presumably subsequent to a macroscopic leak of information, concerning the acts carried out by other judicial office ".

FNSI: "NO MANY REPORTS AND THE EDITORIAL"

"We hope that no one comes to mind today to 'harass' Report and its editorial staff".

Thus the president of the National Press Federation, Beppe Giulietti, commented on the searches of the Dia in the editorial staff of the Rai3 program.

"After the episode on Capaci - writes Giulietti on Twitter - it will be appropriate to leave the editorial staff, Paolo Mondani in peace and instead to search those who, for thirty years, have managed to remain in a well-protected 'darkness'".

Giulietti also announces that "this morning we will be in the drafting of the Report to decide on initiatives to protect sources and professional secrecy".

"In the meantime - he concludes - we ask Rai to make its lawyers available to protect the editorial staff".

'' The searches in the drafting of the Report and at the home of the correspondent Paolo Mondani re-propose the urgent need to approve more effective rules to protect the sources and the professional secrecy of journalists.

The European Court of Human Rights has repeatedly reiterated that the effects of interference of this type in the activity of those who provide information are equivalent to an attack on the citizens 'right to be informed, but in Italy it seems that no one wants to listen to this warning' '.

This is what the Fnsi underlines in a note.

'' What happened this morning to the colleagues of Report is unacceptable because, despite the declared willingness to collaborate with the investigators, the acquisition of copies of the data on computers and phones was also arranged.

The National Federation of the Italian Press is alongside the conductor Sigfrido Ranucci and the entire editorial staff of the Report and is ready to support, together with Usigrai, all the initiatives that colleagues deem necessary to undertake in defense of their work and the right to chronicle.

The hope is that what has happened will spur the government and parliament to finally find a way to intervene to strengthen the protection of sources and professional secrecy, as the first piece of a system of rules that allows to stop the disastrous fall that the

RANUCCI, WE HAVE GIVEN A CONTRIBUTION TO EXPLORE DARK PARTS

"On our part there is maximum collaboration. We are happy if we have made a contribution to the judiciary to explore dark parts".

Thus, consulted by

ANSA

, Siegfried Ranucci comments on the searches.

"The colleague - underlines the program leader - had already had an interview with the prosecutor. We have always been collaborative with the justice system, while guaranteeing the right to confidentiality of sources".

Ranuncci then explains that "the search decree shows the date of May 20, that is, three days before the broadcast of the service".

"It is not a hostile act towards us - he concludes -. Obviously we have informed the legal department, the CEO Fuortes and our director".

THE PM: INQUIRY ON THE GENUINITY OF THE SOURCES, NOT ON THE JOURNALIST

The investigation into the content of yesterday's Report transmission, with the search carried out by Dia against "a journalist who is not under investigation", aims to "verify the authenticity of the sources".

This was stated

by the prosecutor of Caltanissetta, Salvatore De Luca

, underlining that the "search does not in any way concern the information activity carried out by the journalist, although it is presumably subsequent to a macroscopic leak of information, concerning the acts carried out by another judicial office".

"The statements are completely groundless - adds De Luca - about the existence of specific and timely statements made by Alberto Lo Cicero", first as a confidant and then as a collaborator of justice, which would have allowed "to avoid the massacre of Capaci and bring forward the capture of Salvatore Riina by a few months ".

Lo Cicero's declarations, De Luca observes, "are totally denied by the documents acquired by this prosecutor both from the archives of the carabinieri and in the context of the related criminal proceedings of the Palermo Public Prosecutor".

"The negative feedback - adds the prosecutor of Caltanissetta - emerges from the transcripts of the environmental interceptions made against Lo Cicero, before his collaboration, as well as from all the reports of summary information and interrogation made by the same before the aforementioned events".

His statements, observes De Luca, "are totally denied by the documents acquired by this prosecutor both from the archives of the carabinieri and in the context of the related criminal proceedings of the Palermo Public Prosecutor".

Prosecutor De Luca also states that "
