Music award ceremony: MTV Europe Music Awards come to Düsseldorf

The music channel MTV will present the Europe Music Awards (EMA) this year in Düsseldorf.

The presentation of the EMA trophies will be broadcast from the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf on November 13, organizer D-live announced.

The organizers have not yet revealed which stars will appear in November.

It is also unclear how many viewers can watch live in the dome.

This depends on the size of the stage structure.

According to various media reports, artists such as Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa and Harry Styles could be guests in Düsseldorf.

The MTV Europe Music Awards have been presented annually since 1994.

For the EMA, fans can vote for their favorites online.

US singer Tom Jones presented the first show in Berlin.

Further awards in Germany followed with Frankfurt am Main (2001), Munich (2007) and again Berlin (2009) as well as Frankfurt am Main (2012).

After a pandemic-related virtual party in 2020, the awards were presented in Hungary last year.

Winners included Ed Sheeran (Best Artist and Best Song) and Lil Nas X (Best Video).

For the first time, the winners of the MTV EMA Generation Change Award were recognized during the main show in Budapest.

MTV honored five young activists who are committed to the LGBTQ+ movement.
