Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz: "After years of promises and paralysis, we are moving into action. A government decision was made in 2014, but nothing happened. Now our government is moving things.

"The new hospital will bring about a dramatic change, which is so necessary in the quality and availability of medical services for the residents of the south. We will build an innovative public hospital, of the highest standard. It is critical for health in the south and reducing gaps between the center and the periphery.

"In parallel with the establishment of the new hospitals, we are also strengthening the existing ones, with an emphasis on the hospitals in the periphery. In dealing with the manpower crisis, budgeting, standards and dozens of advanced and innovative medical devices that we have recently added.

"I thank the Minister of Finance Lieberman, the Mayor of Beersheba, Rubik Danilovich, the management of the Ministry of Health and all the partners in this historic move. After years of gaps and deliberate neglect, we are strengthening the periphery and strengthening the public health system."
