Russia had said it was ready for dialogue with all international partners. However, he warns: "Sanctions are removed to avoid a food crisis" (ANSA)

Russia says it is ready for dialogue with all international partners on grain supplies from Ukraine, said Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, responding to an appeal to this effect launched by the West in Moscow.

Russia, Rudenko further said, is ready to provide a humanitarian corridor for ships carrying food out of Ukraine.

However, sanctions against Russia should be lifted to avoid a global food crisis, Rudenko said.

In addition, the Deputy Minister added, a possible western escort of ships carrying grain from Ukraine would seriously aggravate the situation in the Black Sea.

"Everything that comes from the Kremlin today has very little credibility, every announcement cannot be considered credible unless it is followed by concrete actions", a European diplomatic source told ANSA, commenting on Rudenko's words.

"It is Russia's illegal actions that have created this crisis, both energy and food," he stresses.

The prices of many commodities, such as wheat, will increase further due to the war in Ukraine, British intelligence writes in its update on the situation in the country, the defense ministry reported today on Twitter.

The fighting has already put global grain prices under pressure, albeit indirectly, the report said.

This trend is destined to continue as the threat from the Russian naval blockade continues to hinder the entry of cargo ships into Ukrainian ports.

With a consequent growing impact on prices due to the shortage of supply.

With a green light for the departure of foreign cargo ships, space is freed up in the warehouses to accommodate the new grain crops arriving in a few weeks for an estimated quantity of 19.4 million tons, about 40% less than the 33 million tons expected for this season;

a figure that still places Ukraine in sixth place among the world exporters of wheat.

This is what Coldiretti says, in reference to the humanitarian corridor opened by Russia to allow foreign ships to leave the port of Mariupol and to the first freight train with a load of grain from Ukraine, which arrived in Lithuania via Poland, which inaugurates the possibility of rail transport of cereals.

An important change also for Italy, which from Ukraine buys 2.7% of imports of soft wheat for a total of 122 million kilos, but also 15% of corn for 785 million kilos.

Russia and Ukraine together account for about 28% of world grain supplies which are partly blocked due to the closure of ports on the Black Sea which prevent exports with a dramatic impact on 36 countries that depend on Moscow and Kiev for more than half of their imports. of wheat, such as Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the FAO.
