The surprise of love: this is what awaits them in Chronicle of a passing affair by Emmanuel Mouret, presented at the 75th Cannes Film Festival. Together, they lend themselves to the game of our cross interview.

Charlotte and Simon meet, like and desire each other, start a story by promising each other not to put any passion, no commitment, nothing to make them lose their reason.

However, the characters played by Sandrine Kiberlain and Vincent Macaigne in

Chronicle of a passing affair

, by Emmanuel Mouret, presented this year at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, will be overtaken by their feelings.

This is the first time the two actors have worked together.

Movies and a kiss

Sandrine Kiberlain .- What do you have in common with your character?

Vincent Macaigne .-

My uncertainty.

Vincent Macaigne .- Your most striking memory of the shoot?

Sandrine Kiberlain .-

When we shot a scene where Simon makes a long declaration to Charlotte, towards the end of the film.

Fortunately I was off-screen, which does not prevent us from playing.

But there, I forgot Charlotte so I was caught up, really moved by Vincent's game.

Sandrine Kiberlain .- Your first movie kiss?

Vincent Macaigne .-

A very long time ago, I played a very small role in a film by Catherine Corsini,

The Rehearsal

.

The only thing I had to do was run into Emmanuelle Béart and shove her.

I was uncomfortable, I didn't know anything about cinema… Catherine Corsini wasn't very happy either.

She said to me: “But after all, it’s simple nonetheless!”

When it wasn't at all.

Vincent Macaigne .- Your ultimate romantic film?

Sandrine Kiberlain .-

I immediately think of Meryl Streep, so perhaps

The French Lieutenant's Mistress

.

Or

Tess

, by Polanski.

But also

Love at first sight in Notting Hill

,

Rendez-vous

by Lubitsch,

Some like it hot

,

Pocket money

by Truffaut or A

nos amours

, by Pialat.

Chronicle of a temporary affair

is also a romantic film, for all that it is violent and sweet to meet someone.

A scissor kick

Sandrine Kiberlain .- The fictional character you fell in love with?

Vincent Macaigne .-

As a child, I fell in love with a little girl who played in

The Cardboard Suitcase

.

I absolutely wanted to see this series for this reason, even if I did not understand the story.

Sandrine Kiberlain .-

And I was in love with Mehdi, who played in

Belle et Sébastien

.

Vincent Macaigne .- What the craziest thing have you done for love?

Sandrine Kiberlain .-

I cut a lock of a girl's hair.

She was on the lap of my boyfriend at the time, it annoyed me.

Sandrine Kiberlain .- What did you learn playing with me?

Vincent Macaigne.-

Sandrine is a very great actress, who manages to play with immense grace.

There is something light and deep about her at the same time.

We are never outside the film but at the same time it is sparkling, joyful and fluid.

I don't know if we can talk about "learning" something but that, for me, is something that is extremely rare.
