The shooter at an elementary school in the US state of Texas announced his crime on Facebook shortly before.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said at a press conference.
Accordingly, the attacker first wrote that he would shoot his grandmother.
His second post, according to Abbott, was that he shot his grandmother.
About a quarter of an hour before arriving at the school, the 18-year-old wrote that he was going to shoot at an unnamed elementary school, the governor said.
The 18-year-old gunman opened fire in a primary school in the small town of Uvalde on Tuesday, killing 19 school children and two adults.
Numerous other people were injured.
The shooter was shot dead by police after the Robb Elementary School massacre near San Antonio.
According to Abbott, the shooter had no criminal record.
However, it is not certain whether the gunman had any entries as a young person.
That still has to be determined.
Mental illnesses are not known, according to Abbott.
The governor also revealed that the gunman shot his grandmother in the face - she survived.
At school, he then broke into a classroom that was connected to another.
Abbott also thanked the police at the press conference: "The reality is, as horrific as what happened, it could have been worse." so Abbott.
“It is a fact that their quick response on the spot enabled them to respond to the gunman and eliminate him.
They were able to save lives.” Unfortunately, there weren't enough lives.
