In the Heidelberg head clinic, a missing person's case has come to a strange, but happy end.
The 75-year-old, who had been unsuccessfully searched for hours, broke through a ceiling in the hospital after more than twelve hours, the police said.
The man probably went into the clinic's basement on Tuesday evening, got lost there and finally climbed a ladder into the supply shafts, the police said.
Accordingly, the man, who wore a neck brace for stabilization because of a spinal injury, had been missing since Tuesday evening.
The police search was initially unsuccessful.
The disoriented man remained in the intermediate ceilings at a height of ten meters on Wednesday night.
On Wednesday morning he broke through the ceiling paneling.
This is how the staff became aware of the man.
However, the 75-year-old was able to hold on and did not fall down.
After the arrival of the height rescue service from the fire brigade, the man was rescued unharmed.
