In the first four months of 2022, 3,589 children have disappeared

, 64.63% of the total number of missing persons, which amount to 5,553, of which 1,180 are Italians and 2,409 are foreigners.

The percentage of finds is 72.11% for Italians and 31.17% for foreigners.

Today is the International Day of Missing Children;

the data comes from the Government Commissioner for Missing Persons.

According to the data in the CED of the Ministry of the Interior, in 2021 there were a total of 12,117 missing minors (i.e. 62.88% of the total disappearance reports, which amounted to 19,269), of which 3,324 were Italians and 8,793 were foreigners. .

The percentage of finds is 79.27% for Italians and 26.35% for foreigners.

From the overall data it emerges that more than half of the reports of missing persons concern minors, with a prevalence of foreigners who entered the national territory illegally and entered the specific protection and integration circuit.

Missing Italian minors, on the other hand, are often victims of family and relational hardships or of contributing causes that cause their removal: drugs, debts, cyberbullying, web solicitation, cases of revenge porn.

Other cases, on the other hand, concern minors who are victims of family or parental disputes.

Raising awareness and becoming aware of the phenomenon helps to spread useful and immediately effective messages: calling the police force immediately is, for example - explains the Office of the Government Commissioner for Missing Persons - important for starting searches.

Experience shows that the first few hours, those immediately following the disappearance, are fundamental for research and to avoid risks for the safety of the minor as well.

It is therefore essential to report the disappearance immediately at the offices of the Police Forces and, immediately, by contacting the 1-1-2 Unique Emergency Number.

In Italy, thanks to a protocol between the Ministry of the Interior and Telefono Azzurro, the single European number for missing minors is 116,000.

The State Police, in the event of the disappearance of people, now also makes available the YouPol app, created to report episodes of drug dealing and bullying and also extended to domestic violence crimes.

Today, through YouPol, anyone can report news deemed useful for the search and tracing of missing persons.

The app, accessible from the State Police website and from the iOS and Android stores, offers the possibility of transmitting messages and images in real time to the operators of the State Police engaged in the operating rooms of the Police Headquarters.
