After Top Gun - Maverick, the 59-year-old actor stars in the new Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning. Release scheduled for July 2023, for this penultimate film in the saga.

After a whirlwind passage on the Croisette for the presentation of

Top Gun: Maverick

at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise is already back in the sequel to the adventures of secret agent Ethan Hunt. On May 23, the 59-year-old actor posted on Twitter the trailer for

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning

, the seventh installment of the action saga.

And the acrobatics are always present in this finale of the saga which will be presented in two parts.

On horseback in the desert, in a car chase in Italy or in combat on the roof of a moving train, the tone is set.

But on some two minutes of sequences affixed one after the other, the trailer provides very little information on the scenario.

And for good reason, Tom Cruise does not even address a word to it, until the final scene: a spectacular leap into the void, perched on a motorcycle from the top of a cliff.

"It's by far the most dangerous thing I've ever tried

," said the actor at CinemaCon, adding that this jump made in Norway is the result of

"several years"

of work.

However, after 26 years of absence from the screen, these sequences mark the return of one of the emblematic characters of the action saga: Eugene Kittridge.

Role played by Canadian actor Henry Czerny as in the first

Mission Impossible

(1996) by Brian De Palma, he will once again play the director of the IMF unit, the Impossible Mission Force, which is trying somehow to capture Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), suspecting him of being a mole within the intelligence agency.

with Tom Cruise?

In the trailer, Eugene Kittridge is the only character to speak, issuing a direct threat to the secret agent:

“The days of you supposedly serving a best interest are over.

This is the time for us to define our truth, the concepts of right and wrong for everyone, for centuries to come.

You are fighting to preserve an ideal that does not exist, that never existed.

You have to choose your camp

, demanded the director, who at the time, in 1996, had been the victim of a throwing of explosive chewing gum, one of the cult scenes which united the two actors.
