"Butterfly Lake" Park, the first butterfly park in Israel, has recently been launched at the Klil factory complex in Carmiel.

The park covers the area of the factory, which covers an area of about 15 dunams that includes two lakes, one permanent and two seasonal - that will accumulate rainwater that falls in the area, the butterfly park.

Klil invested about NIS 3 million in the construction of the park.

The park is open and not as a closed greenhouse and will allow butterflies in the area to stay and breed in the park.

The park will include natural biotopes including open woodland, shrubs and perennials and annuals, expanses of wildflowers and herbs, tailored to the needs of the butterflies in the area.

While butterflies are disappearing from our world due to man-made environmental distress - resulting from air and water pollution using pesticides in agriculture and at home that also kill the butterflies.

The butterfly park will serve as a refuge for the butterfly species - in the park they will be able to live and reproduce and somewhat balance the process of their disappearance from our living environment.

The park was established at the initiative of Klil (the trademark of Klil is a butterfly) in collaboration with the Carmiel Municipality and Dubi Binyamini, a world expert on butterflies.

In the process of planning the park, a living and growing survey was conducted in the area designated for the park with the intention of restoring the local nature.

The survey was conducted at international standards and proved the park's effectiveness in scientifically increasing the butterfly population in the area, with guidelines as to which plants will be planted as surrogate plants for the various butterflies and which for nectar.

There are about 42 species of butterflies in the park area (Carmiel Valley).

Zuri Dabush, Chairman of Klil: "After careful planning that began in 2013, the establishment of the Butterfly Park is the fulfillment of a vision that connects to Klil's mission to make our surroundings smile and be proud of our actions, and expresses our commitment not only to nature but to nature.
