An elementary school shooting in Texas has killed 21 people, including 19 children between the ages of 7 and 10, and has plunged the United States into horror again,


The United States is the only developed country where the shootings in schools are desperately repeated, like the one which bereaved this Tuesday, May 24, an elementary school in Texas.

An 18-year-old man opened fire, killing 19 children and two adults.

Before being shot by the police.

These shootings perpetually reignite the gun debate in the United States.

But no ambitious national law on the issue has yet been adopted.

Back in chronology of the deadliest killings in American schools:

Columbine, Colorado, April 20, 1999:

Two heavily armed Columbine High School students, aged 17 and 18, killed twelve classmates and a teacher within minutes before committing suicide in the library.

Virginia Tech University, Virginia, April 16, 2007:

An unhinged student from South Korea kills 32 with his two semi-automatic pistols, before committing suicide at this renowned institution of higher learning.

Roseburg, Oregon, October 1, 2015:

A 26-year-old student shot dead nine people at Umpqua University.

Wounded, he shoots himself in the head.

Parkland, Florida, February 14, 2018:

On Valentine's Day, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz unloads his semi-automatic rifle at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, from which he had been expelled for disciplinary reasons.

He kills 17 people, most of them teenagers.

The arrested shooter is still awaiting trial.

Santa Fe, Texas, May 18, 2018:

A 17-year-old student gunned down 20 people at his high school, killing two adults and eight youths.

The shooter has since been imprisoned and faces the death penalty.

Santa Clarita, California, November 14, 2019:

A 16-year-old marks his birthday by shooting students at his high school, killing two classmates and injuring three others before attempting suicide.

The victims are 14-15 years old.

Oxford, Michigan, November 30, 2021:

A 15-year-old teenager kills four students in cold blood and injures six others and a teacher on the grounds of high school in Oxford, a small town north of Detroit.

The author of the shooting is charged with "terrorist act" and "murder" and, rare thing, his parents are also prosecuted, for having let their son use a gun offered as a gift.

Uvalde, Texas, May 24, 2022:

An 18-year-old man kills 21 people including 19 children between the ages of 7 and 10 and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in the town of Uvalde, located about 130 miles east. west of San Antonio, Texas.

The killer was shot dead by the police.
