Jean-Luc Martinez, president of the Louvre from 2013 to 2021, was placed in police custody from May 23 to 25, as revealed by Le Canard Enchaîné on Wednesday, then indicted and placed under judicial supervision for "laundering by false facilitation and complicity in organized fraud”.
In question, the purchase by the Louvre Abu Dhabi of several Egyptian antiquities, including a pink granite stele engraved in the name of Tutankhamun, currently on display in the Emirates Museum, for a total sum of 15.2 million euros.
