Covid, 20,322 new infections, 94 victims. Positive 10%,

Gimbe: net decline in infections, almost -30% in 7 days. In a month, the number of people discovered with the third dose is doubled. They slow down the administration of the second boster. For the fourth dose, administrations are curbed with a coverage of 30.5% for the immunocompromised and 14% for the others (ANSA)


There are

20,322 new infections from Covid recorded in the last 24 hours

, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday there were 22,438.

On the other hand, the victims are 94, down from 114 yesterday.

There are 203,607 molecular and antigenic swabs for the coronavirus carried out in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday there were 220,101.

The positivity rate is 9.98%, stable from 10.2% yesterday.

There are 262 patients admitted to intensive care, 9 fewer than yesterday in the balance between income and expenses.

The daily admissions are 22. The hospitalized in the ordinary wards are 5,782 5,969, or 187 less than yesterday.

There are 754,988 people currently positive for Covid, 37,595 fewer in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

A total of 17,333,299 Italians have been infected since the beginning of the pandemic, while the deaths rise to 166,358.

The discharged and healed are 16,411,953, with an increase of 58,368 compared to yesterday.

In the last week, a sharp decline in Covid infections (-29.6%), intensive care (-13.9%), ordinary hospitalizations (-16.2%) and deaths (-17%).

These are the data of the last independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation for the period 18-24 May.

In particular, compared to the previous 7 days, the new weekly cases amounted to 171,737 against 243,932;

decrease in deaths (633 against 763).

There was also a sharp decline in currently positive cases (811.720 against 967.401), people in home isolation (805.173 against 959.599), hospitalizations with symptoms (6.257 against 7.465) and intensive care (290 against 337).

Percentage reduction of new Covid cases affecting all Regions - Gimbe notes - from -2.5% in Sicily to -38.4% in Veneto.

Compared to the previous week, there is a percentage increase in new cases only in 4 Sicilian provinces (Palermo + 0.1%, Catania + 1.6%, Syracuse + 14.7%, Enna + 43.2%), in 103 a reduction (from -4.2% in Crotone to -50.2% in Verbano-Cusio-Ossola).

There are only 5 provinces in which the incidence exceeds 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants: Crotone (578), Cagliari (542), South Sardinia (540), Syracuse (520) and Oristano (505).

As for the tests, there was a further decrease in the number of total tampons (-13%): from 1,727,246 in the week of 11-17 May to 1,502,199 in the week of 18-24 May.

In particular, rapid buffers decreased by 13.7% (-180.117), while molecular ones by 10.8% (-44.930).

The 7-day daily mean of the positivity rate is reduced for both molecular buffers (from 8% to 6.2%) and for rapid antigenic agents (from 16.1% to 13.1%).

As regards the hospitalizations chapter, explains Marco Mosti, operational director of the Gimbe Foundation, 290 beds occupied as of May 24 are in the critical area and 6,257 in the medical area.

As of May 24, the national employment rate by COVID patients was 9.7% in the medical area (from 5.8% in Veneto to 20.5% in Umbria) and 3.1% in the critical area (from 0% of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano to 7.7% of Molise).

"The number of daily admissions to intensive care is decreasing - notes Mosti - with a 7-day average of 24 admissions per day compared to 35 the previous week".

For deaths,

This is the picture of the anti-Covid vaccination according to the Gimbe Foundation.

In particular, 4.06 million people can immediately receive the third dose equal to 8.5% of the audience with clear regional differences: from 4.8% in Abruzzo to 12.6% in Sicily;

4.1 million cannot receive it immediately as they have been healed for less than 120 days, equal to 8.6% of the audience.
