Mottarone: Digifema, old rope and human errors

(ANSA) - TURIN, 26 MAY - "Progressive aging due to inadequately monitored corrosion, fatigue and instability or torsion phenomena".

This is the most probable cause of the breaking of the hauling cable of the Mottarone cableway, at the origin of the accident that on 23 May 2021 resulted in 14 deaths and the injury of little Eitan.

This is what we read in Digifema's interim report (general directorate for railway and maritime investigations), which also speaks of "inadequate personnel training" and lack of organization and maintenance.
