While the tennis elite hit the balls around their ears at the French Open, some professionals prefer to argue on social media about who is the better player: Australian tennis professionals Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic fight their feud on the Internet .

There have been taunts between Kyrgios and Tomic in the past, but now the dispute between the former buddies has reached a new level of escalation.

Apparently, a comment from an Instagram user was enough.

He wrote to Kyrgios that Tomic was the better player.

That is quite daring, because you have to know: Nick Kyrgios is currently ranked 76th in the world, Tomic is 418th.

Kyrgios, known for his quick temper, didn't want to let the comment sit on him.

The 27-year-old responded that he had better world rankings, more prize money and more titles.

Tomic should "be quiet".

stood in the shadows?

He, in turn, apparently read along on Instagram – and immediately had an explanation for Kyrgios' outrage: "The only logical explanation is that I'm his idol," wrote Tomic on Instagram.

Kyrgios has always stood in his shadow since he was young.

"That's why he gets under his skin every time someone mentions my name," says 29-year-old Tomic: "He knows he can't rewrite history."

Kyrgios was apparently incited by this.

"Let's not forget that I paid for your return flight from Shanghai because you didn't have any money," said the 27-year-old: "Hahahaha, rewrite history, you're the most hated athlete in Australia." And: "You're right , no one can take that away from you.«

Both Kyrgios and Tomic were considered very talented when they were young.

However, their careers have recently taken different directions.

Kyrgios still plays with the tennis elite, Tomic is more involved in qualifying and challenger tournaments.

Kyrgios won his first Grand Slam title in doubles at the last Australian Open and reached the quarterfinals in singles at the prestigious tournament in Indian Wells.

He is now skipping the French Open.

However, both Kyrgios and Tomic are known for their whims.

Kyrgios recently insulted a referee in Miami and smashed his racket.

Tomic was fined in 2019 for a listless performance in his first round match at Wimbledon.

The Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon will soon start again on June 27, where Kyrgios and Tomic could then check on the court who the better tennis player is if they meet.
