A 41-year-old man was arrested on Thursday at the airport in the South African city of Johannesburg with 26 kilograms of rhino parts in his hand luggage.

As the police announced in the evening, an employee of the security service had drawn the police's attention to the suspicious-looking parts.

The man who was booked on a flight to Singapore was arrested and the horn confiscated.

He is now threatened with a lawsuit for illegal trading in rhinoceros horn.

According to experts, rhino poaching in South Africa has increased significantly again, especially in private nature parks.

In February, the country released a number of endangered species for shooting.

"A total of ten black rhinos and 150 elephants can be hunted," said the country's Ministry of Forests and Environment.

Some leopards will also be shot under certain circumstances.

Proceeds from the sale of hunting licenses should go to impoverished rural communities in the hunting areas.
