Whether it's a rental agreement, a loan request or a new employment contract: Schufa information is required for many transactions.
For some, the Schufa query is an unpleasant surprise.
For landlords, one thing counts above all: that the future tenant is liquid, i.e. able to pay.
To be on the safe side, many landlords are now being asked to submit the Schufa report before signing the rental agreement.
This is proof of creditworthiness
.
But the Schufa information is not always positive: In some cases, the entry indicates that the risk of non-payment is rather high.
Some fall out of the clouds when your so-called Schufa score is rather bad.
A value of over 95 percent is considered good to very good.
If you only achieve a score of 50 or less, your creditworthiness is classified as critical.
For 50 to 80 percent, there is talk of a “very high risk”.
Who is actually behind the Schufa system?
The Schufa Holding AG (protection group for general loan security) is Germany's largest credit agency.
This evaluates the creditworthiness of citizens based on various data with the aim
of recording their creditworthiness
.
The following factors can negatively influence the Schufa score:
You don't have a checking account.
You have multiple checking accounts and switch accounts frequently.
You have more than two credit cards.
They often use the installment feature of credit cards.
Dunning procedures are running against you.
Your bank has terminated your loans or accounts.
There are entries against you in public registers of debtors.
You have made official loan requests.
