Regional trains for almost nothing: everyone is talking about the nine-euro ticket.
But there is one thing you should not forget on your trip with the bargain ticket.
Munich - The whole of Germany travels by train: The nine-euro ticket starts in June and is already available in advance.
From June 1st you can use as many regional trains as you want for little money.
One thing, however, must not be forgotten - otherwise it will be really expensive.
The nine-euro ticket is personalized and non-transferable, and this must also be proven.
Deutsche Bahn itself writes on the ticket: "Only completed and valid in conjunction with a photo ID".
This means that if you don't have ID with you, you're driving fare dodgers, even if you're holding one of the nine-euro tickets.
Depending on the region, this costs around 60 euros.
How strictly are the nine-euro ticket checked?
Rheinbahn wants to be "accommodating".
How strict are the inspectors?
Rheinbahn spokeswoman Annika Bödefeld told
Der Westen
that one was “accommodating” at the beginning: “Anyone who has forgotten to enter their name on the ticket can do so together with the ticket inspectors.” Bödefeld continues: “Have passengers If you forget your ID and bought your ticket in the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr area, you can show it.” Of course, it is not certain that all inspectors do this nationwide.
One problem is personalization for the homeless.
"Many homeless people don't have an identity document," complains Brother Paulus from the Franziskustreff Foundation in Frankfurt.
So the homeless would once again be at a disadvantage.
