In Rome, a mural commemorates Alfredino Rampi

A mural in Rome for Alfredino Rampi, the six-year-old boy who died falling into a well in Vermicino on June 13, 1981. Attempts to rescue the little boy were followed from all over Italy in a harrowing live TV and the tragedy gave impetus to the creation of the national civil protection department.

Present at the inauguration of the mural in the Garbatella district among others the president of Municipality VIII Amedeo Ciaccheri and Valeria Baglio, group leader of the Democratic Party in the Campidoglio, Stella Liberato street artist, creator of the work and Rita Di Iorio, president of the center Alfredo Rampi .

"Proud of this day and of this initiative. Proud to have this mural here for those who have witnessed it and also for subsequent generations because this story remains etched in our collective history", explained the president of Municipio Ciaccheri in his speech.

"Some stories become a symbol without losing either the tenderness or the humanity that distinguished them - he continued - we must recognize the collective debt towards civil protection and voluntary associations which are now a point of reference for cohesion for our community ".
