The emotion was palpable, this Saturday, May 28, on the main stage of the Palais des Festivals.
After two weeks of watching moving, exciting, “remarkable” films, the celebrities were on edge, all jostled to give the awards, like the characters they embody.
Orchestrated by Virginie Efira, the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival also gave the Palme d'Or to Swedish director Ruben Östlund for his film

But the most striking exchange was certainly during the presentation of the special prize, which set the tone for the evening.
Actress Carole Bouquet was called on stage to hand over the coronation (won by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne for
Tori and Lokita
), and urged the president of the jury, Vincent Lindon, to offer her a kiss.
“I feel all alone… Vincent, don't you want to come and kiss me?” whispered the 64-year-old actress, in a sober black dress in front of her desk.
And to add: “After what happened … It was very moving, the kiss”.
To which the actor replied: “Do I have to come?”, before getting up from his chair and coming to kiss him passionately.

Carole Bouquet was referring to another hug that took place minutes before she took the stage.
Indeed, the Belgian directors Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix Van Groeningen, awarded the jury prize for
The Eight Mountains
, could not hide their joy at the time of receiving their coronation, giving each other a loving kiss in front of a conquered audience.
