When shopping, people suddenly consider whether they should buy standard products such as oil, milk or butter – or rather do without them.
The prices for pastries are currently rising - German eating habits are beginning to falter.
No other country has as much bread as Germany: there are around 3,200 registered varieties.
According to the Federal Statistical Office, around 4.9 million tons of bread were produced in 2021, worth 10.7 billion euros.
