27 years ago, Modi Bar-On joined the sports channel and became one of the favorite broadcasters in Israel.
Not many know, but apart from being a sports broadcaster, Bar-On also wrote and created many documentary series and even served as the writer of the sketch show "The Chamber Quintet".
Today (Monday) he passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Many celebrities and cultural and entertainment figures who knew him through the screen and outside of it mourned him in pain.
"I will forever be a symbol of the Champions League studio broadcasts," wrote Uriel Tsabari.
"Great love," Maggie Tabibi added.
"Soundtrack of my life. For two decades I would sit with you in the living room of the Champions League and feel that you are in my living room. Thanks to a guide full of charm and grace and tongue coins you have implemented. "Smart, historian, and pleasant demeanor. My heart is torn," actor Israel Atias shared moments.
"Unbelievable! How sad! A huge man," model Barak Shamir was saddened.

"Modi, an old friend, is rare and funny to you. Your voice has become an integral part of the voice of Israeli sports," concluded Foreign Minister Yair Lapid.
"Thank you Modi, on behalf of all sports fans in Israel. For years of intelligent and sweet sports broadcasts," Hanoch Daum thanked him.
"I am so sad, so comfortable, all of you lying in peace, dear Modi. We will miss you very much. I had the privilege of meeting you, working alongside you, and learning from you.
"When I first came up as a commentator I was apprehensive. I was even scared. And Moody was there for me. He calmed, smiled, explained and gave me the confidence shot I needed. A hard loss to the culture," the former football player Buzaglo wrote.
"Farewell with a sore heart from the media man Modi Bar-On who left us prematurely. His full-bodied character who always sought to know more and more, and at the same time the sense of humor and sharpness that characterized him, we will miss very much," said Bar-On President Yitzhak Herzog.
