Horror at the Verano cemetery in Rome: the tomb of Alfredino Rampi, the six-year-old boy who died falling into a well in Vermicino on June 13, 1981, was desecrated. TV and the tragedy gave impetus to the creation of the national civil protection department.
The news was given by the regional news of Rai.
From the images, eleven swastikas can be seen engraved on the tombstone.
"I want to express the strongest condemnation to the cowardly desecration of Alfredino Rampi's tombstone. A news that we never wanted to read and that deeply indignates. I hope that the culprits will be identified by the police as soon as possible".
Says in a note the councilor for health of the Lazio Region, Alessio D'Amato.
The president of the Lazio region, Nicola Zingaretti, echoes him on Twitter: "The desecration of the tomb of Alfredino Rampi is a blow to the heart. The perpetrators of this massacre must be ashamed and I hope they will be identified soon".
"The desecration of the tomb of Alfredino Rampi is a very serious, unjustified and incomprehensible act. The investigators should shed light on what happened and prosecute the perpetrators without delay. It is disturbing that the monumental cemetery of Verano may be the subject of vandalism but still of more against the burial of an innocent child, symbol of a national tragedy that struck the consciences and hearts of all Italians ".
Underlines the group leader of the Brothers of Italy in the Chamber, Francesco Lollobrigida.
Just last Saturday the city of Rome wanted to pay homage to the little dead in Vermicino with a mural inaugurated in the Garbatella district.
